Eye Pop Art on the cover of the Crafts Report!

It's June, and Eye Pop Art is on the cover of the June issue of the Crafts Report!

You can read the article online here. It's called "Make More Money with Social Media" by Megy Karydes, and it starts on page 10.

I haven't received a printed copy yet - do you get this magazine? Do you read it? I'm really curious to see if this will bring new business or other opportunities.

Whether it does or not, I'm pretty happy (thrilled, in fact!) about the great exposure for my business. It's kind of fun, too! Read the article to learn about my husband, "a punk rocker and songwriter," my psychedelic home and mandala tattoos, the help I've received from Trillium Artisans and my love of Etsy, the "huge lifesaver."

As the title of the article implies, it also talks about how I use social media to market my business. I mention that blogging takes a lot of time to come up with interesting content to write! Sorry, people who like to read blogs. It's true, I really do prefer the immediacy of twitter and facebook.

So, if you aren't already, why don't you check out my facebook page, and follow me on twitter?

Here's a couple screenshots of the awesome, colorful layout of this article. I love how they used the record player image for the lead-in, and then used lots of my colorful photos throughout two two-page spreads. It's total eye candy! I love my life!

To order any of the groovy items you see here, or make a custom request, please visit my shop at http://eyepopart.etsy.com. Thank you!

The Bowls of Summer

I've posted photos of some of these bowls already, in my color mixing tutorials, but I wanted to show off a few more pictures. Since I just finished up some new designs for fall, I am eager to show them off but wanted to get these up first. Enjoy!

You can find these bowls in my Etsy shop.

The Purple Room

We have a "bonus room" in our basement that we call "The Purple Room." It doesn't count as a bedroom because it doesn't have a proper window, as I understand it. Tangereen recently cleaned it out and took it over - she made a little nest for herself inside the large closet and now spends most of her time down there, reading, listening to music, talking on the phone, and being a teenager.

This is the outside of the door leading into the Purple Room. I painted it to match the awesome "linoleum" which isn't really linoleum - we found a roll of this amazing stuff at a thrift store in Montana many years ago, and it became the inspiration for Linoleum Hogass Records (my original business name, and still the name for the indie record label we are working on creating). The actual "linoleum" is now covering our bathroom floor, and I recreated the pattern for this door.

The Purple Room is right next to the band room, and Chuck and some friends put a sound proof window in with the idea that the Purple Room will be a sound room for recording - sometimes it is used for this, and sometimes we just cover it with a curtain.

Even the inside of the closet is painted purple, and that's where we store all our old tapes, which Tangereen is now enjoying while lurking in her new lair.
So that's the Purple Room!

How to make a Snowman Record Bowl - as seen on HGTV's "That's Clever!"

My episode of "That's Clever!" aired about a year ago, and the tutorial for making the Snowman Record Bowl has been up on HGTV.com for a year too. Since it's that time of year again, I thought I would post the link so you can try your hand at making one of these silly things too!

Goth Clocks

What do you think of my new clock designs? I am calling them "Goth Clocks." (Chuck actually came up with that.)

Also a couple new psychedelic numbers:

These five new Eye Pop Art Mandala Record Clocks can be found this weekend at the da Vinci Arts Fair at 2508 NE Everett St. in Portland, Oregon. I will list the designs in my shop soon.

My own Friday Vintage Finds

I love, love, love vintage housewares, and getting the Etsy Friday Vintage Finds in my in-box always makes my day. Today's theme really knocked me out, and I was so inspired by the discovery of ModishVintage's shop that I had to post my own Friday Vintage Finds! Seriously, this has got to be my favorite vintage shop yet, you have to check it out!

These bird mugs - what can I say? I love them.
I think I have this trivet already...but I want it anyway!
My heart actually skipped a beat when I saw these adorable glasses:
And I nearly cried when I came across this Acapulco plate in the SOLD section - why, oh why, couldn't it be mine? I have a large casserole dish and a square tile with the same pattern!

So there you have it! Some of the most wonderful items on Etsy are in the vintage category.
