Trillium Artisans Pop-Up Shop + Holiday News

I'm now working in downtown Portland, because Trillium Artisans is participating in the Pop-Up Shop program this holiday season!  We have a cute little shop located at 318 SW Taylor Street and we'll be open through December 31.  Then, it's back to Foster Road (our new location on Foster Road, since we moved the store one block east in mid-October, just a couple of weeks before we moved downtown!  It has been a whirlwind to say the least).

So come see our little store if you are in the downtown area - we have lots of great gift ideas and everything is made from recycled and reclaimed materials by local artisans.

We are participating in the Little Boxes event on Black Friday - you could win an ipad just for shopping at local boutiques!  Get 10% off at participating stores with a receipt from one of the other stores.

We also have some events planned for every Thursday evening in December.  On Dec. 1 from 5 - 7 pm you can make Kanzashi Fabric Flowers with the one and only Sister Diane!  (I am super excited about this!)

These are some pictures of the shop that Lee took.  You can see more in this facebook album

I will be having a trunk show there on Tuesday, December 13.  Come visit me!  I'll be there all day from 11 - 7.

I'm not doing any holiday shows, so if you are looking for my items locally please visit Trillium or any of the other stores that carry my work such as Silver Moth, Presents of Mind, Knack, Collect Craft, Mag-Big, SCRAP's RE: Boutique, Redux, or Tender Loving Empire

Not local?  Order from my Etsy shop on Cyber Monday (Nov. 28) and get 25% off with the coupon code PDXETSY2011.  Check out other participating PDX Etsy shops here.

Chuck and I are off to our swing dancing class!  Happy holidays everyone!

Seattle's Green Chair Project

Meet Carina Manz, proprietor of the Green Chair Project, which will be opening on August 1 at 1001 NE Boat St. in Seattle's university district.

It's not often that I get to visit an out-of-town store that carries my work, but last weekend I was able to hand-deliver my items straight to this new shop, since I was on the road to Seattle with the band anyway.
The store, which focuses on products made from recycled and reclaimed materials, will be carrying a nice selection of my clocks, bowls, cuffs, and suncatchers.

This opportunity came about when Carina "discovered" Eye Pop Art at the recent Recycled Arts Festival. Another reason why it's good to do craft shows!

I love the vivid green!

This place happens to be located right down on the waterfront, so we had a little fun with that too, before heading to the club:

More about our Seattle road trip and rock show in another post!

Rings and Things

Here's a sneak peek at a brand new product I've been working on - rings made from recycled vinyl records! I'm thinking of calling them Rock 'n' Roll Record Rings. But I'm not married to the name so I'd love to hear ideas if anybody has any suggestions for a cool name.

Anyway, I bought a ring mandrel from a seller on Etsy (it was a total impulse buy, she was promoting it on twitter) and have been playing around with cutting up bits and pieces from my scrap pile of broken painted records.
I've been collecting all these scraps forever and just waiting to find a good use for them. Rings are perfect, they are so easy to make, it's ridiculous. And with the ring mandrel, I can make them in the proper ring sizes. I am thinking of selling them for around $10 each. I would love your feedback on the pricing too!

I'm taking a batch in to Tender Loving Empire today, and they will be the first venue to try out the new product. I haven't even listed any in my shop yet, but I plan to make more and get them listed within the next few weeks, so stay tuned. I love feedback so please let me know what you think of this new idea! Thanks!

Pictures from the Portland Gift Show

Here are some photos of our Trillium Artisans booth at the Portland Gift and Accessories Show, which took place this last Saturday - Tuesday at the Oregon Convention Center.

That's Lacey and Kori, above. Here are Lacey's cute wallets made from vintage neckties:

Here's Kori with her awesome reversible hats:
We also had etched glasswares from Bread and Badger, book journals from Ex Libris Anonymous (very popular!) and recycled auto-parts jewelry from Emily Baker.

Ah, four days under the fluorescent lights! It was a great experience for all of us, and good connections were made. Now there is talk of a Trillium booth at the upcoming Seattle Gift Show - we'll see!

Record Cuffs and Salt 'n' Pepper Shakers

All of these nifty new cuff bracelets, made from upcycled vinyl records and hand painted with original designs, are available this weekend at the da Vinci Arts Fair.

I got a little crazy and threw some of my vintage salt and pepper shakers into the photos. I think they turned out cool!

Recycled Arts Festival 2008

The picture above is the Eye Pop Art booth at the 3rd annual Clark County Recycled Arts Festival which took place this weekend at Esther Short Park in Vancouver, Washington.

As I did last year, I'd like to share a few pictures of some of my friends and fellow Trillium Artisans who were also at the show. Here's Jacob from Ex Libris Anonymous. He was right next to me so we gave each other breaks and stuff. His booth was mobbed the entire time - the Book Journals are an incredibly popular product!
Below is Liz, of 1 by Liz. She makes the killer bike clocks, and was sharing the booth with April from Rosewebs (handbags and wallets made from lawn chair webbing).
Megan wasn't there so her husband was holding down the Ta-Dah fort on Saturday (I also bought some fun magnets from their aspiring artist son!):
(My own dear love did the same thing for me on Sunday as I had another gig and couldn't make it to the 'Couv. Tangereen went with him and they had a fine time.)

Here's Anitra, with her Coffee Pot People:
And this is Dorothy, one of Trillium's newest members. She makes wonderful upcycled baby clothes, bibs, and handbags under the name Rakiyah.

And here's my pal and neighbor-down-the-street Doug Brown, who was there with another member of the Pacific Northwest Woodturning Guild. They had a lathe and were doing woodturning demonstrations.

As always, it was a fun event!

My favorite new find was Blooming Glass - the way she paints the glass is amazing and the colors just blew me away - you have to check this out! I need about 10 of these in my yard.
