My life is a carnival of colors

The above mandala (painted on a 12" vinyl record) is called "CMYK." I made it almost ten years ago. At the time I was working at Kinko's and I was fascinated by the color copying and printing technology at my fingertips. I used every break and every opportunity for a training session to play with my paintings and see what could be done with them at Kinko's (a million things!). Inspired by the "CLC" (color laser copier), I made this painting using only cyan, magenta, yellow, and black - the four colors of toner that can be combined to reproduce every single color that can be printed - plus a little gold for an iridescent sparkle.

Needless to say, I am madly in love with color. This week's carnival theme for the Etsy Bloggers team is "Carnival of Colors," and I could go on forever. But I'll make it quick and just quote what National Geographic Traveler had to say when they reviewed my work last fall for their Oregon Shopping Guide:

"Free-hand geometric designs that range from intense monochromes..."
"...to psychedelic colorfests...""...to black and white mod throwbacks...""...This vinyl revival is an affordable way to brighten up any ipod-age abode."

Please visit my Etsy shop to find many colorful ways to brighten up your own abode.

As a graphic designer and former Kinko's employee I love the CMYK idea. Very cool! P.S. One day when I was working at Kinko's our air conditioning went down. It was the hottest day of my life running the machines, and I remember lying my forhead on the counter to keep cool.
